Reading Logs: Today's Strategy – Question: What questions do I have about the text? Example: I wonder… Writing with Sense Data Poem: Graphic Organizer
Students were asked to choose a topic and complete the Sense Data Graphic Organizer for homework. The expectation was that each person would have AT LEAST 2 examples for each of the 5 Senses. When doing the homework check, I was very pleased to note that almost everyone had completed their organizers and that MANY students had multiple examples for each category. Well done!
Today in class we worked on Stage 2 of our current assignment WRITING with SENSE DATA -- Collaboration
Students worked in groups to conference with table mates. Each student was given 7 minutes to share their topic and sense data chart on which they brainstormed initial ideas for their poem. Group members were then asked to to help brainstorm other ideas and contribute other suggestions for each person in their group.
Pre-Write #2 IS DUE Tuesday November 18th – Complete, on loose-leaf, a second pre-write. This should include the ideas you like from those contributed to you by your classmates. You should also try to develop and include more of your own ideas for sense data and poetic device. Include at least 5 types of poetic device from the list on your outline. If you need the definitions for the various types of poetic device, please find them posted on this homework blog( *the post below this post)
TUESDAY IS LIBRARY DAY! Please remember books to return and exchange.
*Have your pre-write #2 ready. During the second half of class, you will be doing a "Stream of Consciousness Free-Write" to see what other ideas you can eek out before you sit down to draft the first rough copy of your poem.
Last but not least, please find a copy of the Timeline as posted on the classroom wall, above
