Hi, Class! As you know, I had technical difficulties at the beginning of class due to an unexpected Maintenance on my website.
1. Students were given MARDI GRAS vocabulary sheets. As a way to better learn and study the words, students were asked to create a visual dictionary using the Mardi Gras Vocabulary they received. Students were asked to create drawings/images for 25 of the 33 words and label them in a poster, foldable or brochure format. If anyone would prefer to do a PowerPoint Visual Dictionary ( one image per slide with the associated vocabulary word), that too would be a fine option.
2. Students were shown a video about the Mardi GRas Indians and given some background information on who the Creole people and Mardi Gras Indians are.
3. To end class, students watched the Just Dance version of Iko Iko and some of the references were explained. Next class, we will learn about how the song IKO IKO is related to Louisiana, Cajun French, Creole and Native American Culture. It is quite interesting, really.
