Today we continued with our Autumn Themed vocabulary learning. Yesterday, we watched a video and listened to a song about Autumn. By request, the lyrics are attached below. We spent some time working on oral speaking and pronunciation through song. The remainder of the class was spent working on "Vive L'Automne" an autumn themed french workbook.
Grade 5/6 has recently started a new unit on Automne (Fall). WE started learning new vocabulary last week. In class today, we reviewed the words students could remember by creating a word web, together.
Students next used the vocabulary they laerned recently along with previously learned vocabulary to read a short poem together in class ( rweading comprehension). I was very impressed with their efforts, positive attitude and ability! :o)
Attached below is a copy of the poem we read in class. We will read a few more poems and perhaps later, try our hand at some creative poetry writing ourselves.
After reading, we watched a video and listened to a song. Again, students constructed meaning ( listening comprehension ) from the song lyrics. Students' comprehension is really coming along.!
The remainder of class was spent doing practice vocabulary activities in the students' "Vice L'Automne" booklets.
Review the vocabulary whenever possible.
